Permit costs
Skip permits in Oxford come from Oxfordshire County Council and cost £125 to set up and cover the first 7 days, or £140 on a bus route. Each further 7 days is £50, or £55 on a bus route. Apply at least five working days ahead.
Over 40 controlled parking zones
Oxford is the only part of Oxfordshire with controlled parking zones, and there are more than 40, covering Jericho, East Oxford, Cowley and Headington among others. A skip in a bay needs arranging, so allow extra time.
The Zero Emission Zone
A pilot Zero Emission Zone covers a handful of central streets, including Cornmarket Street, Queen Street and New Inn Hall Street, from 7am to 7pm, and charges vans and other vehicles that aren't zero emission. Jobs in the historic centre are best discussed with the supplier first.
Jericho's terraces
Jericho's back streets are 19th century terraces with no front drives. A new Greater Oxford Council is planned to take over from the county council, but the Government is reviewing its reorganisation decisions and the April 2028 start date is likely to slip. See the skip permit guide.
