Our supplier standard

Raybee Checked

Raybee Checked means we have confirmed a supplier’s paperwork before you contact them. Waste collectors’ registrations are checked against the official public register and re-checked every month, and we have seen every Raybee Checked supplier’s insurance certificate.

What we check

Every supplier with the Raybee Checked badge has passed these checks. Each profile shows the result and the date of the last check.

Waste registration on the official register

If a supplier carries waste, such as skip hire, grab hire or waste removal, we check its registration number against the Environment Agency’s public register (or the register for Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland) and record the expiry date.

Re-checked every month

A registration can lapse after a supplier joins. So on the 1st of every month we check each one again. If it has expired or can no longer be found, the badge comes off the profile until the supplier renews and we confirm it.

Insurance certificate seen

Our team has seen the supplier’s insurance certificate. Profiles show “Insurance: confirmed” once we have.

Business details checked

When a supplier joins, we check its details before its profile goes live. Where it is a limited company, we check its name and status on the Companies House register.

Why it matters

Anyone who produces waste has a legal duty of care to make sure it goes to someone authorised to take it, under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. That includes householders. If your waste is fly-tipped by an unregistered collector, you can be held responsible: in England, councils can give householders a fixed penalty of up to £600. Businesses must also describe the waste they hand over, usually on a waste transfer note, and keep a copy for at least 2 years.

Checking a registration yourself means finding the number, searching the register and checking the dates. On Raybee it is already done, and kept up to date.

What Raybee Checked doesn’t mean

Our checks confirm a supplier’s paperwork on the date shown. They are not a guarantee of the quality of their work. You agree the price, dates and terms with the supplier directly, so ask where your waste will go, get a receipt or waste transfer note, and read their reviews.

Questions about Raybee Checked

What does Raybee Checked mean?

It means we have checked a supplier’s paperwork. For waste collectors, their registration is confirmed on the official public register and re-checked every month. For every Raybee Checked supplier, we have seen their insurance certificate.

How often are registrations re-checked?

Every month, on the 1st. Each profile shows the date of the last check and when the registration expires.

What happens if a supplier’s registration lapses?

Their profile shows the registration as not verified and the Raybee Checked badge comes off until they renew and we confirm the new registration.

Do suppliers pay to be Raybee Checked?

No. The checks are included on every plan, including free listings. Paying for a higher plan changes where a supplier appears, not whether it is checked.

Is Raybee Checked a guarantee of the work?

No. It confirms the supplier’s paperwork on the date shown, not the quality of their work. You agree the job directly with the supplier, so read their reviews and get a receipt or waste transfer note.

Why do some suppliers not have a waste registration?

Only businesses that carry waste need one. Suppliers such as welfare unit hire, surveyors or safety consultants don’t carry waste, so for them Raybee Checked covers their insurance and business details.
