Wide street or narrow?
Bradford Council prices skip licences by the width of your street. From April 2026 a licence costs £48. On most roads it lasts 14 working days, but on narrow streets, main routes and in the city centre it is shorter, as little as 5 working days, so check with your supplier how long your skip can stay. Skip companies register with the council and apply for you, with at least a day's notice; weekend deliveries must be requested by the Friday.
Back-to-backs and terraces
Bradford built terraced and back-to-back housing on a huge scale, and older terraced streets are still common in areas such as Manningham, Great Horton and Wibsey. With no driveways, the skip goes on the street, so the width rules above apply to most jobs.
The Clean Air Zone
Bradford has a Class C Clean Air Zone, where a non-compliant lorry pays £50 a day, and failing to pay adds a penalty. Ask your supplier whether their lorries meet the Euro 6 standard or if a charge is added.
Illegal skips are expensive: a retrospective licence costs £168 per skip. Use a registered operator and the skip permit guide explains the rest.
