Allow a week
Calderdale Council asks for skip licence applications at least 7 days before delivery, longer than most councils. The licence costs £32.50 for up to 14 days, and the skip company applies with its waste carrier licence and insurance. The council invoices the operator quarterly, so the fee is normally built into your quote.
Hebden Bridge and the upper valley
Hebden Bridge's streets are shaped by the steep valley sides, with tight, close-knit terraces on the valley floor. Its four to six storey "under and over" houses, where the upper home is reached from higher ground behind, can make it hard to decide where a skip should go. Talk it through with the supplier first.
Plan around the notice
With a week's notice needed, book as soon as you know your dates. If time is short, a skip on private land needs no licence. The size guide covers the weight limits on heavy loads.
