A monthly permit
Solihull Council charges £89.50 per skip per calendar month from April 2026, with no VAT. That's more than the Black Country boroughs charge for shorter periods, but it covers a whole month, which suits renovation projects. Operators must register with the council, be registered waste carriers, and apply at least 2 clear working days ahead.
Drives save the fee
If the skip can stand on your own drive or land, no permit is needed at all. Measure the space first: a builders skip needs level, firm ground and room for the lorry to lower it.
Near the airport
Solihull borough includes Birmingham Airport and the UK Central growth area around it. For commercial jobs in the area, see skip hire across the West Midlands and Birmingham, where a Clean Air Zone applies inside the Middleway.
