Barnsley's permit
Barnsley Council charges £38 for a skip permit lasting 7 or 14 days, depending on the street. If the skip is already down before the permit is applied for, the fee rises to £106. Operators need £10 million public liability insurance.
Next-day applications
Applications by email must arrive before 12pm the day before the skip is placed; other methods need 3 working days. Skips can't stand within 20 metres of a junction.
Towards the Peak District
Barnsley's western edge reaches into or borders the Peak District National Park, around Penistone, where lanes can be narrow and steep. Describe the access when you enquire. See skip hire across South Yorkshire and the skip permit guide.
